Welcome

To my Portraiture website. I am a qualified Fine Artist specialising in Photography, having gained a distinction in the Masters of Fine Art degree at Ulster University in 2023.

There are many reasons for having a professional portrait made and an equally wide range of styles and types of portraiture. Some of the most common types of portraiture are listed in the panel to the right.

You may well have a different purpose or style in mind, these are only intended as guidance or as starting points.

Photographers typically use images from their photoshoots for promotional purposes and I am no different. However, if you prefer not to have your images used in this way then I have a separate package price for that purpose.

Your portraiture shoot will be made primarily on film using some of the best cameras and equipment available. Your session is shot using professional grade film and is processed using professional processing labs (definitely not Max Spielman!!).

Film photography is a much more considered process than digital, which leads to much better images and more in keeping with my aesthetic as an artist.

Ready To Get In Touch?

If you are reay to schedule your portraiture session why not get in touch to discuss your what style of portrait you want and how it will be used.?

Family Portrature

Family portraiture is about images of your family and are best presented in an album or a book which can grow into future volumes charting the development of your family as they grow, making a real heirloom for future generations. Of course you may also want wall art for your home.

Individual Portraiture

You may want to have your portrait made in order to mark a particular milestone in your life;

  • a particular birthday, 21, 30, 40 or more!
  • a big promotion at work
  • retirement
  • being cancer free

I am sure that we could grow this list much further, but you get the idea, there are any number of reasons to mark your achievements. You might want an album, a book or wall art from such as session.

Children's Portraiture

Parents naturally want to record the day to day development and achievements of their children and part of this might be a professional portrait session to be made into an album that can be added to over the years making a great keepsake for the future. These also make great gifts for grandparents who often cherish such mementoes.

Corporate Portraiture

Your business likely needs portraits of the people involved with the business  for a range of uses from websites, social media, advertising campaigns to the company brochure or annual report.

Actors Headshots

The traitional Zed card and ‘leave behind’ headshot may be less used these days but they have been replaced by the electronic versions on websites or dedicated portfolio sites. Actors should not under-estimate the power of a well produced ‘leave behind’ even now.

Model Portfolio

As with actors headshots these are more often electronic these days, though again the traditional ‘leave behind’ can really stand out in all of that digital noise. Either way professionally made, well lit portfolio images can help you to stand out from the crowd.

Pet Portraiture

I am always amazed by the sheer range of emotions and character that we can see in our pets, they make for incredible portraits and viewing the finished portraits can be quite emotional. Presented as wall art the images can be very striking and books can make great keepsakes or gifts.

Senior Portraiture

Senior portraits originated in the USA where it is a rite of passage as teenagers finish High School, this is becoming much more prevalent in the UK these days and I think are a great way to mark what is an important milestone in life. Presented as books and wall art these mementoes can be as important for parents and grandparents as they are for the teenager, who has the opportunity to explore a range of ‘vibes’ for their session.

Newborn and baby bump

This can be the start of a growing library of photobooks which follows the development and maturing of your child through the years.

Boudoir/Dudeoir

This is a style of portraits which might be described as ‘intimate’ a way to allow women to explore their femininity and to feel ‘sexy’, they are often gifts either from or for a partner. Similarly, a newer style of dudeoir is designed to allow men to explore their masculinity, to try out some equally intimate images. These sessions typically use ‘revealing’ clothing, ‘implied’ nude (images which are photographed with you nude but are posed to avoid ‘showing too much’) and even nude shots. Typically presented as books as gifts for yourself or your partner. These aare often made as special gifts between couples to mark their impending wedding, but can equally well mark an anniversary for example.
